The Organizing Question

What do you do to build community?

This is the organizing question that drives the One Million Splotz of Glue Campaign.

What do you do to build community?

I want people to reflect on this question and then act. I am convinced by the research that shows that communities where citizens are knowledgeable and curious, where they are connected and engaged, where they trust and are trustworthy, and where civic vitality is strong are communities with good quality of life.

I believe we can build the kinds of communities we want to live in. I believe we do this through specific everyday actions that support learning, relationships, trust, and civic engagement. I believe that we can build great communities through deliberate, sustained, and abundant Splotzing of Glue.

So, what do you do to build community?

Do you vote? Do you bowl? Do you know your councilperson? Would you let them babysit your kids? Do you march in the Founder’s Day parade? Do you march in protest against that bill? Do you invite your neighbor over to share your grill and then share your meal? Would you?

if so, then please share your Splotz of Glue with me. I am trying to collect one million.
